Yes - I voted

    November 04, 2008

Yes - I voted - God is in control

  • Got to the polling place at 6:00 pm October 28,2008
  • I was in without a line
  • There were probably 10-20 people there.
  • I NEVER saw a crowd or line like the ones on elections day.
  • My wife voted the Friday before I did.
  • We were in and out in 10 minutes
  • Its sad to hear some of the disturbing voting issues like poll watchers getting kicked out.
  • I heard rumors schools were closing in Huntsville because they were expecting trouble and wanted to protect the kids.  I think those fears are irrational and send the wrong message.
  • We are the greatest country in the world - no one has to cheat or resort to violence.
  • Early predictions show Obama by a wide margin.
  • A wide margin is not a landslide - Only Nixon and Regan qualify as landslide elections (over 500 electoral votes each)
  • I feel sorry for people who are fear mongers and freaking out over stupid things like Obama's birth certificate.
  • I think people who don't participate are losers.  I've even seen people quote scripture as a reason not to participate.  What?
  • I heard you could get free starbucks, krispy kreme and chick-fil-a for voting.  The Holy Food Trinity!
  • I am proud to have whoever wins as my president!  I love the USA!
  • My wife will be up watching till they call it (which may be early)
  • I will wait for her to wake me from a dead sleep!
  • I'll be following the madness in Twitter.  Follow me

Tree down,,,Gone

This is what we woke up to this morning. A fallen tree limb blocking the street. I told the wife I would call someone and the next thing I hear is the City of Corpus Christi had a guy there at 7:30 am and it was gone before 8am. Wow and no mess to clean up. Now that's your tax dollars at work. I am going to let the City know how much I appreciate them.

I got here before he did! I win!

Ever have one of those moments when you felt like the person you look up to, or have looked up too at one time, is on the same level for just a moment? You know that mentor or someone who impresses you as a leader, a friend. I have had my moment today, even it is a brief lived and glorious moment I had it. I beat Roy to the Twitter World. I got here before he did and of all the people I know I was surprised to find Twitter before Roy. Roy... Welcome my friend and next is the Posterous Blog....hehehehehehehehe.

Fishing with Oliver 10-11-2008

Port O'Connor Texas had the sweet smell of salt water as we rolled into town at 6am. We began the day with Keith Simnacher and his son Ryan. We fished hard through the morning not having any luck finding the fish. Then about 12:30 Oliver kicked off the luck with a large skip jack. We then found a nice reef that the fishing were waiting for us.The bite was on and the laughter and fun stayed strong for the rest of the time on the water. We caught several reds that were undersized but I ended up with a nice 22" keeper. Oliver and I both caught a keeper Black Drum. Ryan caught a large Sheephead. Keith and I each caught a 16" Flounder. We all had a memorable weekend and talked about plans to do it again some time soon. I can't wait to take Keith and Ryan duck hunting in the same area.

Another Dove Weekend

My son Oliver and I had another great weekend together hunting the "Mighty Dove". We met up with Keith Simnacher and his son Ryan at a great historical ranch (est.1906) in Karnes City Texas. We hunted the perimeter of a dove filled Sun Flower field. The dove were plentiful and circling the entire field both morning and evening hunts. The afternoon was filled with snacks and napping around two huge shady oak trees. Oliver and I also spent some time target practicing with his new .22 caliber Rossi rifle that his Uncle James gave him for his 10th birthday, which is coming up on Oct. 10th, 2008.
